PQ Interval in Patients With Fabry Disease

2010

Fabry disease (FD) is an X-chromosomal inherited lysosomal storage disease resulting in intracellular storage of globotriaosylceramide. Cardiac involvement is most frequently manifested as left ventricular hypertrophy. However, patients with FD may also have from various conduction abnormalities particularly affecting atrioventricular (AV) conduction. The present study was designed to analyze primarily AV conduction abnormalities on baseline electrocardiograms of patients with FD and to investigate the correlation with echocardiographic findings. Electrocardiograms at rest of 207 patients with FD were compared to echocardiograms. PQ-interval shortening and first-degree AV block could be fou…

New bundle branch block after coronary artery bypass grafting— evaluation by CK-MB isoenzyme analysis and transoesophageal echocardiography

1990

Twelve patients with a new complete bundle branch block after coronary artery bypass grafting underwent transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). The results of TEE were compared with the pre-operative ventriculography, CK-MB isoenzyme time-release curves and clinical course. In eight patients with transient right bundle branch block or bifascicular block, low CK-MB activities and an uncomplicated postoperative course, transoesophageal echocardiography showed no new segmental wall motion abnormalities apart from a paradoxical septal movement in five. A persistent right or left bundle branch block was associated with either elevated isoenzyme activities, transoesophageal echocardiographic evi…

Reproducibility of electrocardiographic findings in patients with suspected reflex neurally-mediated syncope

2008

The reproducibility of electrocardiographic (ECG) recordings in syncopal recurrences and the diagnostic role of nonsyncopal arrhythmias are not well known. The objective of this study was to analyse the reproducibility of the ECG findings recorded with implantable loop recorders in 41 patients with suspected neurally-mediated syncope who were included in the International Study on Syncope of Uncertain Origin-2 study and that had > or =2 events recorded by implantable loop recorders. In these patients, the electrocardiogram obtained with the first documented syncope (index syncope) was compared with other recorded events. Twenty-two patients had > or =2 syncopes, and their electrocardiograms…
